Notes
BRY-97, US-05, WLP001 and Wyeast 1056 are all clean American West Coast ale strains, so any is a genuine substitute for a neutral American ale.
They match on a clean, neutral American profile, but not on flocculation: BRY-97 flocculates high and drops bright fast, while US-05 is powdery. BRY-97 also tolerates 13% alcohol against US-05's 9 to 11%, so for a big West Coast IPA the swap costs you a little clarity and headroom.
