W-34/70, WLP830 and Wyeast 2124 all originate from the Weihenstephan 34/70 strain, so any is a genuine substitute for a clean German lager.
WLP830 is effectively the same 34/70 strain in liquid form. Wyeast 2124 shares the origin but has drifted slightly and some brewers find the dry SafLager has a faint tang the liquid does not. All three ferment clean and cold; pick on availability.
