For a neutral, high-attenuating dry ale strain, US-05 is the closest widely-stocked substitute for Nottingham.
Both are clean and attenuate well, but Nottingham tolerates 14% alcohol and is more stress-tolerant, so for a high-gravity beer or a stuck-ferment restart it is the stronger of the two. US-05 also ferments warmer; hold it cool to stay as neutral as Nottingham.
