Both are clean and high-attenuating, but Nottingham tolerates 14% alcohol and is more stress-tolerant, while US-05 ferments a little warmer and is more powdery.
Choose US-05 for a standard-strength American ale where its neutrality is the whole point.
Choose Nottingham for a high-gravity beer or a stuck-ferment restart where its stress tolerance matters.
