The records come from Open Brewery DB, an open dataset of breweries worldwide, so coverage is fuller in some places than others and details should be confirmed with the brewery.

Why breweries matter to a homebrewer

A local brewery is more than somewhere to drink. Taprooms let you taste the styles you are trying to recreate at home, some breweries sell fresh yeast or spent grain, and many host or support the local homebrew club scene.

Tasting a professional version of a style, fresh and on form, is the best reference point for judging your own brew of it.

About the data

Open Brewery DB is a community-maintained open dataset. Because it depends on submitted records, a very new or very small brewery may not appear yet, and a closed one may linger.

The largest regional directories are California (891), Bayern, Germany (596), Washington (528), Colorado (447), New York (415), Michigan (368), Texas (350) and Pennsylvania (339). Each of those opens onto its own page of breweries grouped by city.

How to use these directories

Start from the region you are interested in, listed below or in the table on each regional page, then drill down to a city to see the breweries there with their type and address. A regional page is the place to browse; a city page is the place to plan a visit.

The directories are a snapshot of the open data, not a definitive register, so treat them as a starting point and confirm the details that matter with the brewery itself.
